Stanton, Orange County
Stanton has been a city twice. Residents first incorporated in 1911 to stop a neighboring city from building a sewage farm on their land, and they named the town for Philip Stanton, a state assemblyman who helped them. The city was dissolved in 1924 to let the county pave its roads, then incorporated again in 1956 as subdivisions arrived.
